The Samsung Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6 Plus are already official. All its features

The Samsung Galaxy A6 and A6 Plus were an open secret. We have already talked to you about most of its features and design, and after its official presentation, we can finally confine all the specifications, since there has been no surprise. With you, the Samsung Galaxy A6 and A6 Plus, the new mid-range of this Korean manufacturer.

These two terminals are not that they are pointers in terms of performance or specifications, but have the merit of being the first to bring the Infinity Display to the manufacturer’s midrange, making Samsung is becoming a tougher competition for all Chinese manufacturers who have adopted the “borderless” philosophy in their mid-range devices.

Samsung Galaxy A6: all its features

We are facing a device made of aluminum, which differentiates it from other devices of the A series that resort to glass, but we can not talk about an unattractive smartphone, since its 18: 9 screen of 5.8 inches and the design of the antennas on the back make it stand out clearly from the competition and give it its own style.

It is not that the upper and lower edges are the tightest of the market, but even so, it does not stop to draw attention to the fact of not seeing any type of physical button on the front of an average range of this manufacturer. On the back, the Galaxy A6 aligns its unique photographic sensor with the fingerprint reader, leaving the LED flash on one side and outside of the previous set.

The laterals tell us that we can install a double SIM and a Micro-SD card in differentiated slots (left side, below the volume control), while the power button is on the right of the device, accompanied by what appears to be a speaker that until now had gone unnoticed.

The terrain of connectivity has clear and shadow, because on the one hand we keep the headphone jack on the bottom, but on the other hand, the Micro-USB port is type A, although the latter is not particularly serious.

A more than acceptable performance and a good camera

The Galaxy A6 does not aspire to fight in the arena of performance, but it offers enough to have a smooth experience with the smartphone and run most games without problems. These are its technical specifications:

  • Dimensions : 149.9 x 70.9 x 7.7 mm
  • Processor: Exynos 7870 Octa Core at 1.6 GHz
  • RAM memory: 3 GB / 4 GB versions
  • Display : 5.8 inches AMOLED with resolution 1480 x 720 px, 2.5D
  • Storage: 32 GB / 64 GB
  • Micro-SD: up to 256 GB
  • Rear camera : 16 Mpx f / 1.7
  • Front camera : 16 Mpx f / 1.9
  • Battery: 3000 mAh
  • Connectivity: USB type A, 3.5 mm jack, Wi-Fi (802.11 a, b, g, n, double-band), GPS, GLONASS, NFC,
  • Bluetooth 4.2
  • Extras: Samsung Bixby, Samsung Pay, Dolby Atmos audio.
  • Operating system: Android 8.1 Oreo

As stronger points of the devices, we have an AMOLED screen that is synonymous with good colors and contrast, a storage that can be expanded considerably and a rear camera that although unique, offers a remarkable level of openness that ensures good photos in low conditions light.

Also highlights the front camera, which with 24 Mpx and its own flash will help us to get selfies of quite quality, although its opening is somewhat worse (f / 1.9) but still quite good.

Other points in favor of the Samsung Galaxy A6 are the fact of including NFC (compatible with Samsung Pay) and Android Oreo 8.1 factory, showing that Samsung has taken very seriously to keep their devices updated.

Galaxy A6 Plus: welcoming double camera

We leave with the most powerful version of the two presented, which has a design practically traced to his brother with some small differences.

We still have a metal body with curved edges that facilitate the grip, but in the back we find a second photographic sensor that allows us to add some special functions such as the “Live focus”, or what is the same, using selective blurs.

The Galaxy A6 Plus grows in size up to 6 inches, and so does the resolution of the screen, which rises to Full-HD + (2,220 x 1,080 pixels). For the rest, there is no difference in the size of the upper and lower edges, with an identical fingerprint reader arrangement, located below the double chamber.

  • Dimensions : 160.1 x 75.7 x 7.9 mm
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 Octa Core at 1.8 GHz
  • RAM memory: 4 GB versions
  • Display : 6 inches AMOLED with resolution 2220 x 1080 px, 2.5D
  • Storage: 64 GB
  • Micro-SD: up to 400 GB
  • Rear camera : 16 Mpx f / 1.7 + 5 Mpx with f / 1.9
  • Front camera : 24 Mpx f / 1.9
  • Battery: 3500 mAh
  • Connectivity: USB type A, 3.5 mm jack, Wi-Fi (802.11 a, b, g, n, double-band), GPS, GLONASS, NFC,
  • Bluetooth 4.2 and Dolby Atmos audio.
  • Extras: Samsung Bixby, Samsung Pay, Dolby Atmos audio.
  • Operating system: Android 8.1 Oreo

It is difficult to find differences between the Galaxy A6 and the A6 Plus beyond the camera, since apart from the extra 5 Mpx sensor available to the A6 Plus, the only palpable difference (without the screen) is that it also increases the resolution of the front sensor up to 24 MPx, although with identical opening.

The performance of the Galaxy A6 Plus does not increase much in terms of the processor, but having a single version with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, it is located above the most basic version of the Galaxy A6.

Other differences favor the Galaxy A6 are the ability to install higher capacity Micro-SD cards and a battery that also rises up to 3500 mAh, to compensate for the larger screen size

Some differences with the Galaxy A8

Although the Galaxy A8 is the most powerful terminal of the A series, it has IP68 and is built in glass, it does not have them all.

It is true that the Exynos 7885 is more powerful and allows wireless charging, but the Galaxy A6 Plus equals it in memory and storage and includes a second rear camera that does not even have the Galaxy A8 Plus , so if we want to take photos, and taking into account that it also has a higher resolution on the front, the Galaxy A6 Plus, is intuited, in the absence of evidence, as a better option.

Prices of the Samsung Galaxy A6 and A6 Plus.

Both devices are available in black, gold, blue and lavender in Europe, Asia, and Latin America, as well as Korea, Africa, and China.

The price for Europe of the Galaxy A6 will be 309 euros (3/32 GB), while the Galaxy A6 Plus rises to 359 euros, which we think is quite successful given everything they offer. They can be booked from today, but will not go on sale until next May 23.
