A new vulnerability, RAMpage, can steal all data from any Android since 2012. The latest threat found in Android is RAMpage, which as its name suggests is a type of attack based on RAM.
The attack in question can be carried out against any smartphone that has been manufactured since 2012. The researchers explain that RAMpage manages to break the most basic isolation that exists between the applications of the mobile device and its operating system.
As a general rule, apps do not have permissions to read data from other apps. However, RAMpage gets administrative control and can carry out this task.
Thanks to this vulnerability it is possible to access all types of information stored on our device: from photographs to passwords, through our private messages and more. All this is achieved through RAM memory, generating massive read and write commands. In this way, the separation between the applications and the operating system itself is broken.
Now we just have to wait for Google to launch an official RAMpage solution in security update mode.
Android Emulator in Android Studio 3.2 now supports AMD processors in Windows 10. Android Studio has provided a feature long awaited by AMD users in Windows 10. This new version has finally brought support to run the emulator with hardware acceleration in machines with AMD processors.
Previously, AMD users in Windows 10 could not run the Android emulator with hardware acceleration. This made the emulator work slowly and inefficiently compared to the Intel platform.
The developer of Android Studio also clarified that hardware acceleration should also work on Windows 10 Home systems, although the latter does not have a “Hyper-V” option. The trick should be to enable the “Windows Hypervisor Platform” option in the optional features of Windows.
On the other hand, Magisk v16.6 adds support for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Project Treble GSI. Magisk is developed by the renowned XDA member topjohnwu. Now Magisk is more compatible with Project Treble Generic System Images (GSI) and the Samsung Galaxy S9 has solved the mysterious problem of loss of root.
This update is a big step in the right direction since flashing a Project Treble GSI or switching between GSIs often requires deletion/data.
Finally, the Navigation Gestures update brings the gestures of the OnePlus 6 to any Android device.
